Danny’s Onion Patch Raceway (On-Road
Edition)
Next On-Road Race: TBD News!!
Affordable On-Road Racing!!
We
want to get more people involved in our hobby, and one way to do that is to
offer a low-cost way to get started.
Several of us (seven of us so far) have ordered a Traxxas 4-Tec
Electric On-Road car. The part number
is 4306, and it comes with an electronic speed control and a radio. These cars are available at the Auburn
HobbyTown for $184 (tax included). Add
a $20 for a battery and wall charger and you will be ready to hit the track. We want to keep
this class low-cost and fun, so we have decided on a simple set of rules: Stock
Traxxas 20 turn "Stinger" motor One
6-cell, 7.2V, NiCd or NiMH battery pack Allowed
Modifications: Any
production-based, 190mm car or truck body Any
tire/wheel combination (see below) Bearings (see below) Servos Radio Chassis
adjustments (toe plates, sway bars) Danny
will have foam tires for $12 a pair. Phil
will have complete 18 piece bearing sets for $22. Steve
at the Auburn HobbyTown (one mile from Bruno’s) will stock parts. Danny
will have some spare parts at the track. Click here
for more photos of the cars. This could
be you!
Each month, the
winner of the 4-Tec class will take home the “4-Tec Cup”. On-Road
Race Location We usually race
in the Bruno's parking lot in Bruno's Directions: From We will have the
lap counting system and handout transponders available. Note:
Any three similar vehicles will make a race!
Put a set of street tires on your monster truck and bring it on! There is usually a good crowd of
spectators, so come on out and promote our hobby. Also,
the Auburn HobbyTown is about a mile away should you need anything. Note: We are looking for a location to
have an on-road race. If you know of a
location with good asphalt that would be willing to let us run, send Danny an
e-mail. Pictures and Video from
the March 23rd On-Road Race This was our first time at the Dollar General on US 280. There was a good turn-out, and several people stopped by to watch the racing. Click here for more photos. Dennis took a short video of the A-Main Nitro TC race. Click here to see it. (Note: 8MB file in Apple .MOV format)
